How To Be Black Only On Weekends
First of all, let me thank those of you who have written me to tell me how much you enjoyed the book. Some of you apparently are still able to gain access to the paperback version and the rest of you are finding out what it's like to read an eBook on your computer. For the record, we have stopped producing the paperback in favor of the new eBook version.
I have exciting news!
Recently I received some rather startling inquiries from a couple of people from the movie industry who seem to be interested in "possibly" turning my eBook into a movie. It was so unexpected that I actually hung up on the guy during that first call because I thought someone was just "pulling my leg". Then they got back to me and this time I sat down and listened.
I always knew that "How To Be Black Only On Weekends" was creating its own "quiet storm" and I would be lying to you if I said I never envisioned it on the "big screen". The thing is, its been several years since I released the original book and my life has since moved on.
Although I still sell a fair number of the books on the Internet at http://www.howtobeblack.com I mostly spend my time working on the computer and thinking of new things to do.
I need a script writer!
When I talked to these movie types (can not reveal any names), I was asked some important questions that I unfortunately didn't have a ready answer. The most important seemed to be that they wanted to see a script of at least three chapters of the book.
I said I didn't have a script, and they paused and said, "well you better get one". To be honest, I never knew you were suppose to just have a movie script sitting around and waiting. Then they explained, that either I could produce my own script, which maintains more of my original flavor or the studio has script writers on call that do this stuff all the time. The latter method by nature may lose "my voice" and is usually the cause of serious tensions with "newbies" in the film industry.
Okay, so that's my plight. I need "serious" individuals to submit to me at least three chapters of my book, in professional industry standard script format. If you are one that has the talent and know how, please understand right up front. Your submittal comes with no guarantees whatsoever. All I can promise is that all submittals will be closely reviewed by my resources for the finest of the bunch. If your submittal is later found to be worthy, you'll be contacted for further instructions. If your submittal is ultimately used, you'll receive full credit.
DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME IF YOU DON"T HAVE IT. There is no implication that there will be any fees paid for these initial submittals.
Make note that this is a fickle industry and admittedly it is all new to me. All I know is that anyone who ever made it in the past to this level had to have their "first experience". Obviously I'm going to do what's right with the knowledge I have, but I can't help but be an old time skeptic.
If you think you fit the bill, you may contact (email) me at tom@lexcelsys.com . Be sure to place HTBBOOW in the subject line so that we may treat your email as real and not a spam attempt.
Peace,
Tom Williams
